The Linda Ciccantelli Memorial Scholarship
Each year The Mid-Atlantic Horticultural Therapy Network (MAHTN) offers “The Linda Ciccantelli Memorial Scholarship” for academic achievement to one or more students currently pursuing a career in horticultural therapy. The award includes $500 to be used towards academic or internship requirements, a complimentary one-year MAHTN membership and an assortment of MAHTN swag.
The MAHTN Board of Directors is proud to announce the winners of The Linda M. Ciccantelli Memorial Scholarship for 2021. Congratulations to both winners!
Brooke Gibbard, an NYBG HT student, has been working as a Garden Coordinator for The New York Botanical Garden's Edible Academy for three years. As part of this role, she coordinates gardening activities for a HT program for veterans with a history of suicidality. Brooke also coordinates goal-oriented, service-learning garden projects for a diverse volunteer group, including children, older individuals, and individuals with
physical and intellectual disabilities.
Arielle Hartman, an NYBG HT student, has been a Greenhouse Instructor at The Horticultural Society of New York's Greenhouse Program on Riker’s Island since December of 2019. As part of this role, she creates curricula and facilitates classes that reflect students' individual interests and celebrates students' abilities to think critically, problem-solve and get creative in the garden.
